Need to restore a damaged tooth in Point Loma, San Diego or Ocean Beach? At Harbor Family Dental, we offer both CEREC and traditional crowns. CEREC Crowns Pros: Requires only one 1-2 hour appointment, no temporary crown needed, no goopy dental impressions (uses 3D scanner). Cons: Not suitable for every patient (teeth broken below gumline can't be scanned), usually more expensive, porcelain must be used (can't make gold crowns). Traditional Crowns Pros: Finer level of detail from lab technicians, enhanced durability with metal-fused-to-porcelain design, more affordable. Cons: Takes two appointments over 2-3 weeks, must wear uncomfortable temporary crown, takes longer to adjust if changes are needed (must be sent back to lab).
